One of the wonders of the world is the variety of birds. At Parrot Mountain and Garden of Eden in Pigeon Forge there are over 180 species of birds just from the tropics, hundreds of them in all the colors of the rainbow. Come and be amazed!

Located just down the road from Dollywood, Parrot Mountain and Garden of Eden introduces visitors to these exotic, fascinating creatures. The first birds you’ll meet are the giant macaws from Central and Southern America sitting on their perches. Their voices caw in welcome as they show off their vibrant plumage with feathers ranging from brilliant red to bright yellow, from royal blue to vivid green. They are among the largest of the parrot family with wingspreads over three feet. And did you know they can live to be 75, even 95, years old?

Once inside you’ll find paved walkways winding through a beautiful four-acre garden filled with seasonal and exotic tropical flowers and plants under the canopy of hardwood trees. English cottage-style cages along the paths showcase different birds from around the world such as the endangered Hyacinth Macaw from Brazil or the South American Toucan with its large multi-colored beak of Fruitloop fame. A plaque outside each cage explains where that bird is from, what they eat, and more.

Spend a little time interacting with the birds, and they will respond and even show off for you. Laugh at the antics of the Black-headed Caique from northern Africa or try talking with the African Grey, known as the Einstein of birds for his extended vocabulary. You’ll find more parrots on perches along the paths. Stop to say hello - many will greet you back with a “hello!” One pink cockatoo will even say “I love you!”

Best of all, at Parrot Mountain you can have the magical experience of actually holding a bird yourself. In the Lory Aviary, flocks of small Lorikeets will land on your arms to come sip nectar from a small cup in your hand. In the Nursery, you’ll fall in love with the baby parrots. You can even purchase one to take home with you! In the Parrot Garden, more than 140 tame parrots are waiting for you to feed them their favorite nuts and seeds. Be sure to have your picture taken with a parrot on your shoulder.

Experience the wonders of the new Bird Walk, an elevated, netted jungle-like walkway where the birds fly free. Give thanks in The Prayer Garden with its 7-ft statue of Jesus. Enjoy a sandwich or Angus steak burger, handcut fries, or ice cream at their Deli. Buy a souvenir in their gift shop. Visitors of all ages will remember seeing the hundreds of parrots at Parrot Mountain and Garden of Eden. It’ll be one of the highlights of your vacation!
